When the young engineer Ernst Thielenhaus constructed a new, particularly compact diaphragm compressor in 1948 and christened it the product name HANDY, he anticipated what would happen decades later in mobile telephony: He reduced technology - in this case the production of compressed air Dimensions and weight so much that it was easy to transport and use anywhere. More than 40 years later, the marketing strategists of the mobile phone manufacturers adapted the catchy name.
For almost 70 years, the HANDY compressor have proven themselves thousands of times. The mobile, universally applicable system can optionally be supplied as a compressor for the production of oil-free compressed air or as a vacuum pump.
Today the HANDY is manufactured by Koellmann Airtec. The long-established company, together with the gearbox specialist Koellmann Gear, is part of the Thielenhaus Technologies Group, which, together with the Thielenhaus Microfinish division, is the world market leader in precision machine tools for surface finishing.
Thielenhaus Technologies has already received several awards for its entrepreneurial achievements. Among other things, the company was listed by Manager Magazin among the 1000 German world market leaders. The company was also honored by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in the location marketing campaign "Germany at its Best" as one of the top 100 in the category Technology / Innovation with an entry in the book published for it.
